For this reason, any <strong>sign of localisation<\/strong> is not enough to make the search engine&#8217;s life easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote is-style-default has-border-color has-black-color has-text-color\" style=\"border-color:#15d3c2\"><blockquote><p>International SEO is the set of techniques used to manage the digital presentation of a company in relation to different types of consumers who <strong>speak different languages and live in different countries or regions<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But, where to start with international positioning? In other words, orientate the page to a country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Correctly establish for <strong>which language or languages<\/strong> the pages are oriented, for this purpose language tags (hreflang) will be used.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Generate content<\/strong> for each of the country-language consumers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Any international SEO project is based on these three points, my recommendation is that you<strong> have them well defined before starting<\/strong>, otherwise it will be very complicated and very costly to straighten it out afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1-local-market-research\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Local_market_research\"><\/span>1. Web architecture, the soul of international SEO strategy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are <strong>different url structures<\/strong> that can be implemented in this type of project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This is one of the most important keys to international SEO<\/strong>; since the<strong> type of structure conditions the strategy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is, depending on <strong>where you want to take the business<\/strong>, one structure or another may be more beneficial when it comes to achieving objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These structures include using domains called <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Country_code_top-level_domain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ccTLD<\/a><\/strong> (<strong>code top-level domain<\/strong>); subdomains, subdirectories or subfolders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first thing to note is that this choice <strong>segments countries and not languages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cctld-domains\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ccTLD_domains\"><\/span>ccTLD domains<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"tg-oembed-container\"><iframe title=\"Should I use ccTLDs for sites not targeted to those countries?\" width=\"812\" height=\"457\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yJqZIH_0Ars?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; they look like this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-light-green-cyan-color\">www.example.com<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is being <strong>segmented here is the country and not the language<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is to say, it seems obvious (and Matt tells us in the previous video) that if we choose a domain with an ending such as .es, presumably <strong>the content will be oriented towards the Spanish market<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Google indicates the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/specialty\/international\/managing-multi-regional-sites?hl=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">advantages and disadvantages of using this type of domain<\/a><\/strong>, but here I summarize them for you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table class=\"has-background has-fixed-layout\" style=\"background-color:#fcf0ef\"><thead><tr><th>Type of domain<\/th><th>Advantages<\/th><th class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Disadvantages<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>www.example.es<\/td><td>You tell Google very clearly which market you are targeting.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">It is much more expensive<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td>No matter where your server is located<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">You need more infrastructure at all levels<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td>Sites (different languages) can be separated easily<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">There are restrictions depending on the type of domnimo<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Advantages and disadvantages of ccTLD domains<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest drawbacks of this strategy (which, in the end, is to have a different domain per country) is the<strong> cost of SEO maintenance<\/strong>, as we would be talking about totally independent websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This type of international strategy therefore requires a great deal of financial muscle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One company that has opted for this strategy is Amazon (amazon.es, amazon.it, amazon.fr), for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"subdomains\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Subdomains\"><\/span>Subdomains<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Google calls them &#8220;generic top-level subdomains&#8221;
